A man from Walberton has been jailed for 12 years after a serious knife attack.
Police were called to Eastergate Lane on Friday, the 27th of June, where a woman was found with severe injuries.
The victim, who was known to the attacker, was taken to hospital and has since made a full recovery.
Melis Abzhaliev who is 38 pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court.
Investigator in charge of the case, Emily Waters, from West Sussex Division, said: “This was a brutal attack which left a woman seriously injured. Thankfully, she made a full recovery.
“A thorough investigation was carried out by the team, who worked hard to gather evidence and bring the offender before the court.
“I hope this sentence brings some measure of closure to the victim”.
