Emergency services were called to Elmer Beach near Middleton-on-Sea after a man’s body was found close to the water.
The discovery was made at around 6.45am on Wednesday, 26 August, at Elmer Beach off Sea Way.
Police say enquiries are continuing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called to Elmer Beach, Sea Way, Elmer, Middleton-on-Sea on Wednesday 26 August at around 6.45am after a man’s body was found near the water.
"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances of the situation.
"However, it is not currently being treated as suspicious.
"A report will be prepared for HM Coroner."
