Sage House is preparing to celebrate eight years of supporting people living with dementia and their families across West Sussex, with a series of special fundraising and community events in May.
The milestone will be marked with activities running from Tuesday 5 May to Friday 8 May, bringing together supporters, local businesses and the wider community. Organisers say the programme is not only a celebration of everything Sage House has achieved, but also a chance to raise vital funds to help continue its work.
For the past eight years, Sage House has provided information, advice, wellbeing activities and practical support for people navigating dementia. The charity says it has helped thousands of individuals and families feel less isolated and more supported through what can often be a difficult journey.
The celebrations will begin on Tuesday 5 May with the Sage House Bake Off, taking place from 10am until 3pm in Daisy’s Café. Staff will be baking a selection of homemade cakes, all available in return for a donation, and visitors will be able to vote for their favourite.
On Wednesday 6 May, attention turns to the Spinathon fundraising challenge, running from 8am until 4pm. This year’s target is to raise £5,000, which organisers say is enough to fund Sage House for one full day. People can sign up individually, join as a team or support others taking part.
A Birthday Celebration Sing-Along will follow on Thursday 7 May from 2pm until 3pm, led by Activities Coordinator Lisa. The relaxed, donation-based session will include music, laughter and connection, with guests also encouraged to dress up for the occasion.
The celebrations will end on Friday 8 May with a sold-out birthday event featuring an Elvis tribute act.
Emma Radley, Chief Executive Officer of Dementia Support, said: "Reaching our eighth birthday is a wonderful milestone for Sage House, and it’s an opportunity to celebrate the community at the heart of everything we do. Each event during the week is about bringing people together while raising vital funds that allow us to continue supporting local families affected by dementia.
"Dementia can be an incredibly isolating experience, but Sage House is here to ensure no one has to face it alone. The support we provide every day is only possible thanks to the generosity of our community, and we can't wait to see what the next eight years brings for the charity."
