Dragonfly Festival enters final weeks at WWT Arundel

Families are being encouraged to make the most of the final weeks of the Dragonfly Festival at WWT Arundel, which runs until 31 August.

More than 10,000 visitors have attended the festival so far this summer, with a programme of activities and performances inspired by dragonflies and wetland wildlife.

Events during the remaining days include live music, face painting and Pondemonium Silent Discos, alongside dragonfly safaris by canoe and on foot.

Visitors can also take part in pond dipping, outdoor games and guided walks with wetland experts, while other activities throughout the festival have included circus performances, science shows, storytelling and arts and crafts workshops.

The event is designed to encourage families to explore the wetlands and learn more about dragonflies and the habitats they depend on.

Claire Hogben, from WWT Arundel, said: “With the Dragonfly Festival entering its final weeks, now is the perfect time for families to come and see these amazing insects across our wetlands before the summer holidays come to an end.

“Dragonfly Festival is all about getting families closer to nature, discovering the superpowers of wetlands and experiencing something exciting with every visit.

“Whether it's spotting dragonflies for the first time on a safari or enjoying one of our live performances, there's something for everyone to enjoy.”

Dragonflies are an important part of wetland ecosystems, with the festival also highlighting the need to protect the habitats they rely on.
