A 20-year-old man is due to appear in court charged with a series of offences following reports of assaults on members of the public in Eastbourne.

Adam Ahmed, of Burton Road, Eastbourne, has been charged with seven counts of assault by beating, two counts of common assault and one public order offence.

The charges follow a Sussex Police investigation into several reports made between February and June this year.

Police said the reports involved victims being approached by a man in Eastbourne before allegedly being punched or kicked.

The man was then reported to have left the scene.

Ahmed was arrested in June and was later charged with the offences.

He is due to appear before Hastings Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 2 September.

Superintendent Ed Faulkner said: “Sussex Police take reports of violent crime seriously, and we will be relentless in our investigations.

“We understand how important it is for people to feel safe when going about their daily lives and we will do all we can to keep our communities safe.”
