Mystery object reported in skies above Gosport

A Gosport resident has reported seeing a mysterious illuminated object moving through the night sky in the early hours of the morning on the 13th of August.

The witness said they spotted what appeared to be a round object with a dome on top and a series of red lights around its underside while looking out of a window at around 2 am.

According to the report on the National UFO Reporting Centre website, the object was initially moving across the sky at an estimated elevation of around 45 degrees.

The witness described it as drifting before suddenly changing direction and “darting” through the sky.

They said: “I looked out of the window to watch the shooting stars and saw a round craft with a dome on top and red lights completely around the whole of the bottom.

“It was drifting and darting. I grabbed my phone to video it, and it shot off very fast.

“I know it sounds crazy, but it was just like you see in the old movies.”

The witness reported seeing lights on the object and said it appeared to change direction several times before rapidly disappearing from view.

There is currently no independent confirmation of what the object was, and sightings of unusual lights in the night sky can have a range of explanations, including aircraft, drones, satellites and astronomical phenomena.
