Community organisations across Arun are being invited to apply for grants of up to £2,500 for projects aimed at reducing crime, tackling antisocial behaviour and protecting vulnerable residents.
The Safer Arun Partnership has opened a second round of its Community Safety Grant Fund after the first round, launched earlier this year, was fully allocated within six weeks because of high demand.
Applications are open to voluntary and community groups, charities, residents’ associations and youth organisations.
The fund supports community-led projects designed to improve safety and wellbeing across the district.
Councillor Alan Butcher, Chair of the Safer Arun Partnership, said:
“We were inspired by the response to the first round of funding, which clearly shows the appetite from local organisations to deliver projects that make a real difference in their communities.
We are delighted to be able to offer a second round of funding and would encourage groups of all sizes to come forward with their ideas to help keep Arun a safe and supportive place for everyone.”
Projects can focus on a range of community safety priorities, including diversionary or preventative activities to reduce antisocial behaviour and small-scale environmental improvements linked to safety and resilience.
The fund can also support community engagement, awareness campaigns and training sessions promoting crime prevention, as well as youth projects providing safe spaces or positive activities.
Other eligible schemes include projects supporting vulnerable people at risk of harm or exploitation and pilot initiatives testing new approaches to community safety.
The Safer Arun Partnership includes representatives from Arun District Council, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, West Sussex County Council, the Probation Service, local health partners and the Office of the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner.
Funding will be awarded on a rolling basis until the available budget has been fully allocated.
Successful projects must be delivered by the end of March 2027.
