A fire which broke out on Eastbourne Pier this morning has been extinguished, with firefighters confirming the blaze was accidental.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a stop message was received at 12.03pm today, Sunday 30 August, meaning the incident had been brought under control and no further resources were required.

Four fire engines remained at the scene shortly after midday, although the service said the response would be scaled back shortly.
Firefighters were originally called to the pier at 10.24am following reports of a fire.
At the height of the incident, six fire crews and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene.

The pier was fully evacuated as firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used firefighting foam to tackle the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the structure.
Gas and electricity supplies to the pier were isolated and Sussex Police was also requested to attend.
The cause of the fire has now been confirmed as accidental.
