Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl reported being grabbed by a man who sexually assaulted her by touching in a field near Edinburgh Road, St Leonards.
The incident occurred at about 3.05pm on Monday (20 July). The victim managed to run off and the suspect made off towards Filsham Road.
He is described as white, between 5’ 9” and 5’11”, aged between 25 and 35 with light brown curly hair, stubble and was wearing a red jacket and dark blue jeans.
Detective Inspector Barry Chandler said: “This is a fast moving investigation and our specially trained officers are supporting the victim. We are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area who may have seen anyone of this description acting suspiciously or saw the incident to come forward. We would also like to hear from anyone with relevant CCTV or doorbell footage which could help our investigation.
“We are aware of the alarm that this will cause to the local community, and we have stepped up police patrols who will remain in the area while we continue to investigate. Please speak to our officers if you have any concerns.”
