A new music festival featuring Tinchy Stryder, Toploader, DJ Luck & MC Neat and Ultrabeat is preparing to take over Chichester.
Back Then Festival will be held at Westgate Fields on Saturday 8 August, with organisers describing it as the city’s first major music festival. The event promises a mixture of live bands during the day and dance music as the evening approaches.
Tinchy Stryder is among the biggest names appearing at the festival. The rapper is known for chart hits including Number 1, Never Leave You, Take Me Back and Spaceship.
Toploader will also take to the stage, bringing songs including Dancing in the Moonlight and Achilles Heel to the Chichester crowd.
The line-up also features UK garage favourites DJ Luck & MC Neat, best known for tracks including A Little Bit of Luck, Masterblaster 2000 and Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us.
Dance act Ultrabeat, whose hits include Pretty Green Eyes and Elysium — also known as I Go Crazy — will add some early-2000s club nostalgia to the event. Organisers say further performers will also appear throughout the day.
So what artists are performing and when?
Back Then Festival is being promoted as an event for all ages, with entertainment planned away from the main music stage.
A free vintage-style funfair will offer nostalgic rides and traditional fairground attractions, while free face painting will be available for younger festivalgoers.
Children will also have their own dedicated stage, featuring family-friendly music and entertainment.
Elsewhere around the site, visitors will be able to listen to stripped-back performances on an acoustic stage or dance to music from different decades at a silent disco.
Food stalls serving dishes inspired by countries around the world will operate throughout the event.
A nine-hole jungle-themed miniature golf course from Pukka Putters will also be at the festival. The separate attraction will feature custom obstacles and timed entry slots, with organisers saying it is suitable for children and adults.
The festival’s slogan is “Bands by day — dance by night”, with organisers promising a full day of live performances, food, drink and summer festival entertainment.
