Families are being invited to explore Chichester city centre through a new creative trail this summer.
The Novium Museum, Chichester Cathedral and Chichester Library have joined forces to host the Sunlight Trail on Thursday, 23 July, from 10am to 12.15pm.
The school holiday event will give children and their families the chance to visit three of the city’s cultural venues while taking part in hands-on craft activities at each stop.
Inspired by the success of the Starlight Trail in November, the Sunlight Trail allows families to choose their starting point before following a route between The Novium Museum, Chichester Cathedral and Chichester Library.
Each venue will host a different creative activity. At The Novium Museum, children can make a spoon character inspired by David McKee’s much-loved Mr Benn stories. At Chichester Cathedral, families can design a Piper Tapestry-inspired paper plate, while Chichester Library will offer the chance to make a pipe cleaner flower bouquet.
The event is aimed at families looking for fun and affordable activities during the summer holidays. Spaces are limited and advance booking is essential. Tickets cost £9 and include entry for one child and an accompanying adult.
After completing the trail, families can continue their day in Chichester with other activities taking place across the city. These include Elmer and Friends: The Colourful World of David McKee at The Novium Museum, Chichester Cathedral’s Glowing + Alive exhibition, and Chichester Library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge.
Cllr John Cross, Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Place at Chichester District Council, says: "The Sunlight Trail is a fantastic way for families to enjoy time together in the city centre during the summer holidays. The popularity of the Starlight Trail in November highlighted the demand for affordable, hands-on family activities in Chichester, so we're delighted that The Novium Museum, Chichester Cathedral and Chichester Library are working together once again to offer families a creative morning of activities in some of the city's leading cultural venues."
The Sunlight Trail forms part of The Novium Museum’s wider Elmer and Friends summer events programme.
