The University of Chichester’s School of Nursing and Allied Health has been named a finalist in the Portsmouth and Chichester Apprenticeship Awards.
The University of Chichester’s School of Nursing and Allied Health has been named a finalist in the Portsmouth and Chichester Apprenticeship Awards.
The school has been shortlisted for Training Provider of the Year at the 2026 awards, which recognise apprenticeship excellence across Hampshire and West Sussex.
Its Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with local NHS and independent care providers, allowing healthcare workers to combine academic study with practical experience.
Apprentices attend university one day a week alongside their full-time jobs for two years and also undertake external placements across different areas of nursing.
Those completing the course qualify as registered Nursing Associates with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Maisie Colella, Academic Lead for Nursing at the University, said: “At Chichester, we’re small but mighty. We want our nurse apprentices to feel confident in their abilities and we work hard to provide targeted support – which leads to excellent job prospects at the end of their course.
“Our success is demonstrated by our NSS results and our student and employer feedback, and we’re delighted to be recognised further as a finalist in the Portsmouth and Chichester Apprenticeship Awards.”
The University said its Nursing Associate apprenticeship ranked first out of 47 universities in several areas of the 2026 National Student Survey, including teaching, learning opportunities, organisation and management and student voice.
The success of the course has also led to the launch of a new Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship in Adult Nursing from September 2026.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel on Thursday, 22 October.
