A family-run Chichester restaurant has been recognised as one of the leading curry restaurants in the South East.
Masala City received the Outstanding Award in the Restaurant of the Year – South East category at the 15th English Curry Awards 2026.
The restaurant, based in St Pancras, was presented with the honour during an awards ceremony at Grand Station in Wolverhampton on Monday, 10 August.
Masala City was one of only three restaurants recognised in its regional category, bringing another major hospitality award home to Chichester.
The independent restaurant has been family-owned since opening in 2002 and has built a reputation for carefully prepared Indian cuisine, attentive service and a warm welcome.
Its chefs specialise in tandoori dishes alongside traditional and contemporary Indian food, using high-quality ingredients and locally sourced produce wherever possible.
Co-owner Murad Hossain said: “To receive the Outstanding Award for the South East is a very proud moment for everyone at Masala City. We are a local, family-run restaurant, so to see Chichester represented on a national stage means a great deal to us.
“This recognition belongs to our whole team. Their skill, care and hard work are behind every service, and I could not be prouder of them. It also belongs to our customers, whose loyalty and encouragement have supported us for so many years. We will use this achievement as motivation to keep improving and to give every guest an experience that Chichester can be proud of.”
The accolade marked the latest achievement for Masala City and recognised its long-standing contribution to Chichester’s independent hospitality sector.
The restaurant said its connection with the local community remained central to its success as it continued serving customers from across the city and surrounding area.
