Police have arrested a man on suspicion of two murders in St Leonards on Tuesday (30 June).
Officers were called to an address in Seven Acre Close shortly after 4.30am after a man and a woman were reported to have been injured.
Sadly, the bodies of a 66-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were found inside the address.
Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera said: “This is a tragic loss of life, and our thoughts are with the victims and their families and friends at this very difficult time.
"We have arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of the murder of a man and a woman, and he remains in custody at this time.
“This is a fast-moving investigation as we seek to understand the wider circumstances of what happened. It has been established that the suspect and victims were known to each other, and we are not looking for anyone else at this stage in connection with this.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area while we complete enquiries.
“We would urge anyone with relevant information, such as CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage, to report it online or phone 101, quoting Operation Newington.”
