Residents are being invited to have their say on proposed improvements to walking, wheeling and cycling routes between Crawley Town Centre and Manor Royal Business Park.
West Sussex County Council is asking for feedback on the plans, which focus on Northgate Avenue.
The scheme has been developed in response to growing pressure on Crawley’s transport network and the need to provide safer and more sustainable travel options.
As the largest town in West Sussex and a key economic hub, Crawley experiences high levels of traffic and congestion. With Manor Royal Business District and Gatwick Airport nearby, pressure on the transport network is expected to increase as the town continues to grow.
The proposals aim to encourage more people to walk and cycle, particularly for shorter journeys. The council says this could help reduce congestion, improve air quality and support healthier communities, while also improving access to jobs and services.
The consultation forms part of the wider Crawley Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan.
Plans include a new segregated two-way cycle track, separated from traffic for added safety. There would also be improved crossings to make it easier for people to get around on foot, by bike or with mobility aids.
A reduced 30mph speed limit is also proposed to help create a calmer and safer street environment.
If delivered, the improvements would connect with existing town centre upgrades, creating a more joined-up network between key destinations including Crawley College, the Town Hall and Manor Royal.
West Sussex County Council says feedback will help shape the final designs and future funding bids.
The consultation is open until 11:55pm on Wednesday, 5 August.
A drop-in event will also be held on Thursday, 2 July 2026, from 4pm to 7pm at Northgate Community Centre, 23 Barnfield Road, Northgate, Crawley.
