Residents and businesses are being asked to have their say on major plans to regenerate part of Crawley town centre.
Crawley Borough Council has launched a consultation on its draft Town Centre East Regeneration Plan, which sets out a long-term vision to make the area more vibrant, connected and attractive.
The Town Centre East area includes several key sites and public spaces around the Town Hall, County Buildings, Crawley College, Queensway, Queens Square and The Boulevard.
The draft plan looks at how the area could be improved over the coming years, with proposals designed to support business growth, education, culture, community facilities, public spaces and new housing.
Among the ideas being considered are 30,000 square metres of commercial space to support jobs and businesses, more than 21,000 square metres of new education facilities at Crawley College, and the expansion of cultural venues and community facilities.
The plan also includes improvements to public spaces and better links for people walking and cycling across the town centre. Around 850 new homes could also be delivered to support a growing town centre community.
Councillor Atif Nawaz, Crawley Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development, said: “This draft regeneration plan represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Town Centre East and ensure it meets the needs of our residents, businesses and visitors for years to come.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible to help refine and strengthen these proposals to ensure the final vision reflects local priorities and aspirations. I encourage everyone to share their views and help shape plans for one of the most important development areas in Crawley town centre.”
The council says feedback from the consultation will help shape the final version of the regeneration plan before future decisions are made.
