Stagecoach South is celebrating a major milestone after welcoming its one millionth customers on the 500 bus service.
The route, launched in 2023, was introduced to better connect Chichester with Littlehampton and has since become an important transport link for local communities.
To mark the occasion, Stagecoach South welcomed Tanya McCarthy, presenter at V2 Radio, and Rupert Cottrell, Station Director, who joined the team to celebrate.
Since its introduction, Service 500 has helped improve access to work, leisure and family connections, particularly for those without access to a car. Stagecoach says the achievement reflects both the popularity of the route and the continued support from the community, as well as the dedication of staff delivering the service.
Marc Reddy, Managing Director of Stagecoach South, said: “We are incredibly proud to have reached 1 million customers on Service 500. This milestone demonstrates the real impact that well-planned, community-focused transport can have.
Passengers have also shared how the route has made a difference to their daily lives:
“We have been very lucky to have this service and it really helps me out visiting friends/family who do not live near train stations. Being a non-driver, it has really helped me to get around locally.”
“My son really enjoys bus journeys and the staff we have encountered have always been really friendly and interactive with him. They are always impressed with his knowledge of the Stagecoach buses in Chichester.”
“I'm so glad this route has been introduced. I love a bus trip to Littlehampton on a Saturday for a shopping trip with my mum and daughter.”
