Two young ducklings have been rescued after falling down a drain on the M27 westbound between junctions 9 and 10.
A crew from Cosham made their way to the scene shortly after 11 o’clock yesterday morning.
The ducklings were safely lifted from the drain and handed over to an RSPCA officer, who reunited the pair with their mother.
Crew Manager Curtis Miles, Cosham Fire Station, said:
“As a firefighter you really do never know what the next call out will involve – and this certainly will be a memorable one.
“It was a real team effort, and as always it was great to work alongside RSPCA and Highways teams.
“It was brilliant that we were able to play our part in achieving a successful outcome, reuniting the two ducklings with their mother.”
