A black Ford and a black Mercedes collided at the junction of Beehive Ring Road and Gatwick Road at around 3.55pm on 16 July.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to the drivers of a blue Mini with white stripes, a white SUV and a white Caddy-style van, who may have witnessed the incident.
Anyone who saw what happened or captured relevant footage on a dashcam is being urged to contact Sussex Police.

A 55-year-old man from East Grinstead was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, driving without insurance and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He has been released on bail until 17 September while further enquiries are carried out.
