Eastbourne Bandstand is set to host 12 community-focused events this summer, showcasing local performers, cultural organisations and grassroots creativity.
The programme, organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, will add a new strand to the landmark venue’s established calendar of tribute acts and live shows.
The programme has been designed to celebrate Eastbourne’s artistic and cultural life while providing opportunities for emerging performers and community groups.
Other events will include Reggae Gospel, Rock Choir and a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Printers Playhouse.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a soap opera-style performance created by local writers and actors, Dance Through the Decades and Opera at Sunset, an acoustic performance set against the evening skyline.
Chubstock, part of the Eastbourne Music Collective, will also feature in the programme.
Councillor Jenny Williams, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Place, said: "Eastbourne Bandstand is a much-loved landmark, and this new community programme gives residents and visitors the chance to experience it in a completely different way. From dance and theatre to grassroots music and cultural celebrations, these events showcase the creativity and spirit of our town.
"I was delighted to join Rinceoirí Ratton for their rehearsal and see for myself the energy, talent and local pride they bring to their performance."
Each participating organisation has been able to apply for funding to help cover the cost of staging its event.
The council is also providing free use of the Bandstand, on-site assistance and promotional support.
