A man has been charged with several offences following a stabbing in Littlehampton town centre.
Police were called after the incident in High Street and Howard Place at around 9.50pm on Saturday, 18 July.
It was reported that a man arrived at an address in High Street and assaulted a 51-year-old woman, causing an injury to her face.
The woman left the property and walked towards Howard Place, where she was allegedly followed by the man.
Police said he then began threatening members of the public with a bladed weapon.
Following a verbal altercation, a 32-year-old man was stabbed before the suspect left the scene on foot.
Officers attended and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.
Following enquiries, a 24-year-old man was located and arrested in Greenfields, Wick.
Oliver Lewis, 24, of Greenfields, Wick, Littlehampton, was charged the following day with wounding with intent, assault by beating and threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.
He was also charged with engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship and criminal damage.
Lewis appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 20 July, and was remanded in custody.
He is due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on 17 August.
Police are continuing to investigate and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have relevant CCTV or mobile phone footage.
