West Horsley Place is preparing to welcome visitors back to Tudor England when its Henry VIII Festival takes place this weekend.
The historic estate, which is also known as a filming location for the BBC comedy series Ghosts, will host a programme of living history, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.
Inspired by real events which took place at West Horsley Place in 1533, the festival will give visitors the chance to meet Henry VIII and other notable figures from the Tudor period.
The programme will include jousting displays, falconry demonstrations, Tudor music and theatre, as well as the opportunity to discover food which would have been served during the reign of Henry VIII.
Younger visitors and aspiring knights will also be able to take part in a range of hands-on activities.
These will include mini-jousting, sword-fighting classes, archery, shield making and Jester School.
Organisers say the festival will combine historical re-enactments and live performances to offer visitors an entertaining insight into life in Tudor England.
The event is expected to provide a summer day out for families, history enthusiasts and fans of West Horsley Place’s television connections.
