The Conservative MP for Farnham and Bordon is set to speak to MPs this week about efforts to prevent sewage overflows and protect local waterways.
Gregory Stafford will appear before the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee on Thursday, where he is expected to outline discussions he has held with Thames Water.
The issue of sewage discharges into rivers and waterways has become a major concern for communities across the country, with water companies facing growing pressure to reduce overflows and invest in infrastructure improvements.
Mr Stafford is expected to tell the committee about the work being done to stop wastewater entering rivers and other local watercourses, as well as the conversations he has had with Thames Water on the issue.
The committee’s work covers issues relating to the environment, agriculture, food, rural affairs and the performance of government departments and agencies in those areas.
For residents in Farnham, Bordon and surrounding communities, concerns over water quality and pollution remain a key local issue, particularly where rivers, streams and natural habitats are affected by sewage overflows during periods of heavy rainfall or pressure on the wastewater system.
It comes as MPs continue to scrutinise the performance of water companies and the effectiveness of measures designed to improve water quality and protect the environment.
